The IDF plans to create a buffer zone in Lebanon up to 3 kilometers deep, preventing UN soldiers and the Lebanese army from entering it. Israel does not intend to establish a foothold in this land after the cleansing, wishing to leave it devoid of military and civilian personnel.

According to the publication, the total length of the zone will be 10 kilometers, while 7 of them will be controlled by the Lebanese army and UN peacekeepers. If the latter are unable to protect the territory from Hezbollah, Israel can take over this mission, despite the objections of the UN and European countries.
