Unlike solar power plants, the new system produces energy around the clock, as it uses sea waves as a source.

Israeli company Eco Wave Power has launched a demonstration project to generate electricity from sea waves in the port of Jaffa together with EDF Renewables Israel. Eco Wave Power technology is used on coastal infrastructure and consists of floats immersed in water, moving with the waves and generating energy.

This 100 kW system is capable of powering 100 homes and is Israel's first wave energy project. It allows us to demonstrate the functionality of the technology even during storms, when the floats remain operational.

Inna Braverman, the company's founder and CEO, believes that Eco Wave Power will begin the world's first project to harness wave energy on a commercial scale. The company's plans include installing a 20 MW system in Portugal, providing power to 20,000 homes.

It was also reported that Eco Wave Power received permission from the US Army Corps of Engineers to use wave energy at the AltaSea site at the Port of Los Angeles.
