“Each individual case is being checked by the Ground Forces and the Ministry of Defense because they are responsible for mobilization. While the attitude toward mobilization may vary, it has been ongoing since the start of the full-scale war. It is in accordance with legislation and the conditions of martial law. The country is at war. That is why we have mobilization. We want a just peace, calm, and for there to be no mobilization or martial law,” he said.
Zelensky emphasized that as long as the war continues, mobilization will not end.
“Various incidents during mobilization: some offered money, some took money, some evaded service. But this is not the face of Ukraine,” said the president.
According to him, between 600,000 and 800,000 people voluntarily joined the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“Right now, there are 800,000, or 600,000 people, who volunteered to join the army. This was the law on mobilization, but people voluntarily went to defend Ukraine,” Zelensky said.
The head of state added that law enforcement should ensure there is no violence, and every controversial case is being investigated.
The president noted that despite the difficulties, Ukraine continues to fight for the peace and safety of its citizens, and will continue to seek help from its allies, such as the U.S.
