On the evening of November 2, 2026, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported 18 dead and five injured after Russian airstrikes on the village of Kamyshevaha (Komyshuvaha) in the Zaporizhzhia region. A school, where humanitarian aid was regularly distributed to local residents, was hit. After the first attack, Russian aviation, according to the president, dropped nine more bombs directly on the shelter where people were located.

Later, it became known about 27 missing persons. This was reported by the secretary of the Zaporizhzhia City Council, Regina Kharchenko. The same data was provided by the acting head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Mykhailo Semikin.

Among the 18 dead were a police officer and two rescuers from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES).

Nine aerial bombs on the shelter where people were located

According to Semikin, Russian aviation used guided FAB-3000 aerial bombs against the center of Kamyshevaha. These are heavy munitions weighing about three tons.

Zelensky clarified the sequence of the attack: initially, the strikes hit the school used for humanitarian purposes. Then a repeated strike followed with nine more aerial bombs on the shelter with people.

The president emphasized that the Russian military should have been aware of the building’s purpose. The remaining residents in the village received humanitarian aid there weekly.

Rescuers, military, and special services are working on-site. Searches for people under the rubble continue. The fate of the 27 missing remains unknown, so the final number of victims may still change.

On the morning of November 2, regional authorities initially reported one dead and two injured. By evening, after receiving new data, the scale of the tragedy turned out to be significantly larger.

In June, a humanitarian aid point was already attacked here

This is not the first Russian attack on the humanitarian infrastructure of Kamyshevaha.

On June 15, 2026, five Russian FPV drones attacked the territory of an educational institution where the humanitarian mission ‘Prolisok’ was operating. Volunteers were distributing building materials to residents for the restoration of damaged houses, and local authorities were distributing bread.

Four drones exploded. Four people were injured, and two vehicles of the humanitarian organization were damaged.

The head of the mission, Yevhen Kaplin, said that after the first explosion, volunteers moved people to an underground shelter. This helped avoid further casualties.

After the June attack, ‘Prolisok’ ceased regular humanitarian trips to Kamyshevaha, focusing on evacuating residents.

It is still unknown whether the same educational institution was hit on November 2.

Pavel Shveiko, in a material for NANews, draws attention to the main uncertainty: as rescuers continue to clear the rubble, it is impossible to determine the fate of all the people who were in the shelter. It is known about 18 dead, but 27 families are still waiting for information about their loved ones.
