Iran's new President Masoud Pezeshkian has threatened to retaliate against Israel if it attacks Lebanon. He said any possible Israeli attack on Lebanon would have “serious consequences” for Jerusalem. He conveyed this information to French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday, July 29. Pezeshkian also said that Tehran is ready to improve relations with Paris “based on mutual trust.”

The Iranian president stressed that any Israeli attack on Lebanon would have serious consequences for Israel. It was also reported that the French president spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on July 28 in an effort to prevent an escalation between Israel and Hezbollah.
