According to The Wall Street Journal, the US has sent a threatening message to Iran, warning of a possible “devastating blow” to the country’s economy in the event of a major attack on Israel. It also notes that such actions could affect the stability of the new Iranian government led by Masoud Pezeshikan, who was elected president after the death of Ibrahim Raisi.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken confirmed the message and said the US was not threatening Iran, but was merely warning of a possible military response from Israel. In connection with this, F-22 fighter jets and several destroyers were deployed to the Middle East, ready for action both in the air and on land.

However, there is no talk yet of the direct use of force by the United States in the event of a possible Israeli attack. Iran may not take direct part in a military response to the liquidation of the head of the Hamas politburo, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran, as stated by Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah.
