Israel has banned Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas from visiting the Gaza Strip, his foreign relations adviser Riyad al-Maliki said.
He noted that the Palestinian authorities did not request permission, but after his visit was announced, the Israelis refused.

According to al-Maliki, this shows that Gaza is “under military occupation by Israel.” He stressed that “the occupiers’ permission is not needed for the president to visit Palestinian territory.” Abbas asked the UN Security Council for support to overcome Israel’s denial of entry into Gaza.
