The pontiff called for prayers for an end to wars in various countries, such as Palestine, Israel and Myanmar.

On August 20, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a law that bans the activities of religious organizations associated with the Russian Orthodox Church. The President of Ukraine signed the law on August 24. The new law will enter into force 30 days after publication, with a caveat on additional provisions regarding the termination of the activities of religious organizations associated with the ROC.

The law prohibits the use of religious organizations to spread the ideology of the “Russian world.” Pope Francis also drew attention to the suffering of people affected by monkeypox and expressed support for the people of Nicaragua.

The Pontiff stressed that prayer brings peace and hopes that through prayers it would be possible to achieve an end to armed conflicts in various parts of the world. It is important to preserve religious freedom and peace in different countries.
