Russian propagandist Sergei Mardan, known for his extreme nationalist and anti-Western views, continues to voice anti-Semitic and anti-Ukrainian narratives of Kremlin propaganda.

He claims that the US will give Ukraine the ability to use ATACMS ballistic missiles to strike Russia, citing House Foreign Affairs Chairman Michael McCaul, who he says said: “I spoke to Blinken, he is going with his counterpart from the UK to Kyiv to basically tell them that they are giving them permission to strike Russia with ATACMS.”
This manipulation demonstrates how Kremlin propaganda is trying to justify possible strikes on Israel in the event of further escalation. He was born in 1969 and is known for his work on propaganda platforms such as “Komsomolskaya Pravda” and the channel “Soloviev LIVE”He gained wide fame thanks to his resonant speeches in which he openly called for violence, including a proposal to send Ukrainian teachers who refused to work in occupied areas to concentration camps.
His anti-Semitic rhetoric is particularly evident in his interpretation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, where he has repeatedly compared Israel to Western colonial projects. In one of his posts, he stated that “Israel was doomed to an endless and hopeless war from the beginning”calling the Jewish state a product of Western colonialism, like the Central African Republic or the Democratic Republic of Congo. Mardan also equates the Israeli-Palestinian conflict with the ethnic wars in Africa, saying that “The war between the Palestinians and the Jews is no different from the war between the Tutsis and the Hutts.”
Sergey Mardan, a Russian propagandist, is known for his close ties to Russia’s media and political elites, making him a mouthpiece for Kremlin propaganda aimed at both foreign and domestic audiences. His activities extend far beyond his media persona, actively promoting anti-Semitic, anti-Ukrainian, and anti-Western narratives that reflect key elements of the Kremlin’s ideological line. Mardan is an important player in the state propaganda machine, maintaining close ties to decision-makers in Russia, including Putin’s inner circle.
Mardan occupies key positions in propaganda platforms such as the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper and the Solovyov LIVE channel, which are actively supported by the Kremlin and used to shape public opinion inside and outside Russia. Through his programs and publications, he voices and promotes the main narratives of Russian state propaganda that justify military aggression, destabilize international relations, and spread hatred towards the West, Israel, and Ukraine.
Mardan’s propaganda activities are not simply a reflection of his personal convictions, but part of a carefully planned campaign to advance the Kremlin’s interests. His statements about the need to strike Israel, support for Iran, and the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East serve as an instrument of pressure on the West and testify to his close integration into the strategic vision of Putin’s circle.
Awards and recognition from Putin: Mardan is a laureate of the National Award in the field of media business “Media Manager of Russia” (2002, 2003, 2007), which demonstrates his important role in Russian propaganda circles and recognition of his activities at the state level.
Criminal Investigation: On July 1, 2023, based on the evidence collected, the Security Service of Ukraine informed Mardan of suspicion under three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Part 2 of Article 109 – public calls for the violent overthrow of the constitutional order or the seizure of state power;
- Part 3 of Article 436-2 – justification of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, which began in 2014, as well as the production and distribution of such materials using the media;
- Part 2 of Article 442 – public calls for genocide and dissemination of materials containing calls for genocide.
Mardan faces up to 8 years in prison. Comprehensive measures are ongoing to hold him accountable for crimes against Ukraine.
Notably, his rhetoric plays an important role in shaping the new ideological foundations for Russian foreign policy. In his statements, he promotes the idea that Russia should support Iran against Israel and the West, which reflects the growing Moscow-Tehran axis that the Kremlin has been actively developing in recent years.
Mardan is closely associated with Vladimir Solovyov, who is one of the main mouthpieces of Putin's propaganda. The channel “Solovyov LIVE”, where Mardan hosts his own program, has become a platform for aggressive narratives aimed at undermining international stability and strengthening Russia's influence on world politics.
