French police prevented three attempted terrorist attacks against Israelis during the Olympic and Paralympic Games

French law enforcement officials have reported that they have prevented three attempted terrorist attacks during the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris and other cities. According to European Pravda, citing AP, the head of the French National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor's Office, Olivier Christin, said that the attackers were planning to attack “Israeli institutions or Israeli representatives in Paris” during the Olympics.

Kristen also noted that the Israeli sports team was not the main target of the terrorists. In total, five people, including a minor, were detained on suspicion of participating in the planning of the attacks. They have been charged with terrorism-related charges and are in custody.

The prosecutor noted that the motives of those arrested were primarily related to jihadist beliefs. France was on high alert during the run-up to the Olympic and Paralympic Games. French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin warned of terrorist and extremist threats. France also stepped up its airspace defenses, deploying military aircraft and drones to patrol the skies over Paris and Marseille.
