Histadrut prepares train strike before holidays.

Israel Railways has been notified of a labor dispute declared by the Histadrut, which represents the railway workers. According to the notice, a strike by all 4,200 employees of the company is possible from October 2024. The essence of the dispute is related to negotiations on structural changes and contentious issues between management and workers.

The resulting labor conflict is due to the management's decision to make changes to the railroad and to create a new department for labor relations with trade unions. One of the contentious issues is the recruitment of employees – the management wants to conclude individual contracts, while the trade unions insist on collective agreements.

If the conflict is not resolved within two weeks, a railway strike will begin, which could seriously hamper the lives of Israelis. One of the consequences could be the suspension of train service to the airport before the autumn holidays, when passenger traffic at Ben Gurion Airport increases significantly.
