On September 24 at 21:27, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared his support for efforts to end the Russian-Ukrainian war through diplomacy and dialogue based on the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. At the UN General Assembly in New York, he noted that after three years of war in Ukraine, it has not been possible to achieve a just and lasting peace due to the accelerated “arms race.”
Erdogan also spoke out about the conflict in Palestine, accusing the Israeli government of ethnic cleansing and gradual occupation. He supported the Palestinians' right to resist. The president also compared Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler, expressing hope that his actions would be stopped.
He also criticized the UN, considering it dysfunctional and inert. Erdogan noted that the world cannot depend only on five privileged countries and supported changes in the permanent composition of the UN Security Council.
