The military intelligence agency Aman's information security service has uncovered a Hezbollah plot using at least 17 fake social media profiles to collect classified military information. Fake accounts, including Russian-language ones, with attractive photos and biographies, were used to infer information about Israeli military personnel, their bases and commanders.

Opponents even feigned romantic relationships in order to gain trust and gain information. They faked photos, audio messages and video calls, and even pretended to be former or current IDF soldiers. To be convincing, they used the accounts of “good guys” and “eligible bachelors,” never giving up attempts to get the data they needed.
