On the evening of October 1, after an Iranian rocket attack, Israel announced complete security to its citizens. Most of the more than 180 ballistic missiles were intercepted, but two missiles did reach Nevatim Air Base in southern Israel, where Israel's fleet of F-35 fighter jets is based, The Times noted.

Israel may want to improve its air defense before paying damages to Iran. The country is deploying new medium- and long-range air defense systems with a range of up to 2,000 km, including the Arrow 3 anti-ballistic missile system.

Michael Milstein, a former Israeli military intelligence officer, noted that deficiencies in Israel's air defenses are an important factor in preparing for a possible attack by the Iranians.
