The former Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef, addressed the Deputy Mayor of Tel Aviv, emphasizing the importance of conducting prayers in synagogues according to tradition and the Talmud. He noted that prayer on the street cannot replace prayer in the synagogue, supporting the initiative to bring Jews closer to traditions through organizing prayers for a wide audience.
Rabbi Yosef also expressed his opinion regarding the situation with prayers in public places, pointing out that the damage from unacceptable conditions outweighs the benefits, and called for prayers to be held indoors to avoid desecration of the holy day. He noted the request to organize prayers in synagogues and other closed spaces, protecting the sanctity of events and avoiding conflicts.
Despite the Supreme Court's decision to hold prayers outdoors, Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef called for prayers for the return of the abducted and the well-being of the IDF soldiers, addressing all those present during the opening of the synagogue ark. His letter calls for unity and peace among the people of Israel and wishes for complete deliverance and prosperity.
