The Israeli representative to the UN said at a Security Council meeting about the situation in Lebanon that the Israeli army does not plan to occupy this country. He stressed that the IDF is conducting operations in southern Lebanon only in response to aggression from the Iranian-backed Hezbollah terrorist group.

Israel stands for the protection of the Lebanese people, who are being held hostage by these organizations.

The representative of Iran, on the contrary, argued that Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah was supposedly the Lebanese people's main hope for a peaceful settlement of issues in Southern Lebanon. The parties at the UN expressed opposing points of view on the conflict in Lebanon, calling for compliance with peace agreements and protection of the interests of the Lebanese people from extremist groups.

Diplomats continued the dialogue, sincerely striving for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
