The deputy leader of Hamas announced the Islamists' intention not to release the hostages until a complete cessation of hostilities in Gaza. The release of prisoners will be possible only under Hamas conditions, including the withdrawal of troops from Gaza and the release of terrorists from Israeli prisons.
In a statement, Hamas expressed condolences over the leader's death and called him a “national leader and commander.”
The organization “honored the memory of the fallen fighter, noting his contribution to the struggle for freedom of the Palestinian people.” Hamas recognized Shinwar as “a military leader and freedom fighter who died on the battlefield.” All this happened during a period of ongoing tense events in Gaza; the Islamists are not going to give up on their demands and “will continue to resist the occupation in the land of Palestine.”
