The Israel Defense Forces has confirmed the removal of Hashim Safi al-Din, the head of Hezbollah's executive council, who was likely to lead the group after the death of leader Hassan Nasrallah.
The liquidation took place in early September in the Lebanese capital Beirut. According to IDF social media posts, Safi ad-Din was a member of the Shura Council, Hezbollah's highest military-political forum.
Hashem Safi al-Din was also a cousin of Hezbollah's former leader and exerted significant influence over the group's decision-making.
He led terrorist attacks against the State of Israel and participated in Hezbollah's decision-making. Along with him, terrorist Ali Hussein Hazim, head of Hezbollah's intelligence headquarters, was eliminated.
