In early October, the Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine German Smetanin announced cooperation between Ukraine and the Belgian company Thales. According to him, this cooperation will be aimed at the transfer of technologies and components for the FZ275 LGR missiles. This will strengthen Ukraine’s military-industrial complex and protect the country’s critical infrastructure from enemy drones.
According to Defense Express, Ukraine and Thales are planning to produce the FZ275 LGR missiles, which are already used by the Defense Forces. These missiles have semi-active laser homing and are similar to the APKWS missile from the British company BAE Systems, but with some differences.
On October 3, the Romanian Ministry of Defense announced that the Patriot missile defense system had already been delivered to Ukraine. According to journalists from Politico, the President of Ukraine asked international partners to provide assistance in the defense of the Ukrainian sky, in particular, drawing a parallel with support for Israel. The main focus is on Poland and Romania, which are capable of shooting down missiles and drones invading border areas.
On October 19, the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, Rustem Umerov, announced the signing of an agreement on “immediate actions” to strengthen the air defense system with the participation of Germany, Belgium, Norway, the Netherlands and Denmark.
