Lebanese media report that an operation was carried out by unknown special forces in the city of Batroun in the north of the country, located on the other side of Beirut, near the Israeli border. A CCTV video appeared on Arab social media showing armed men leading a man in civilian clothes, shackled behind his back, to a speedboat. According to local residents, the man was taken away by boat by unknown Israeli special forces.

Various versions of the detainee’s identity have appeared on social networks. Some believe he is a high-ranking Hezbollah operative, others believe he is a Lebanese Navy officer named Imad Amhaz. Workers of the Al-Hadat TV channel suggest that Amhaz was not only a naval officer, but also an official of Hezbollah.

At the moment, Israel is not commenting on this incident, and in Lebanon, Transport Minister Ali Hamia confirmed the arrest of a Lebanese citizen, calling him “a captain of the civil and merchant fleet.” The Lebanese authorities are conducting an investigation and plan to contact the leadership of UNIFIL (Unifil) to clarify the possible involvement of UN troops in the incident.
