At the next meeting of NATO ministers, it is planned to discuss the possibility of intercepting Russian missiles over Ukraine. Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said he believed this would be a subject of negotiations when NATO's new secretary general meets with the alliance next week.
Previously, Sikorsky had already announced the constitutional obligation of NATO countries to shoot down Russian missiles in the event of a violation of airspace. NATO responded to this with a warning about possible negative consequences, since the alliance is not a party to the conflict and does not intend to intervene.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly called on Western countries to help intercept missiles and drones over Ukraine. However, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg rejected such proposals and emphasized the alliance's opposition to becoming a party to the conflict.
