Dozens of Israelis have been arrested in connection with forced prostitution.

Police uncovered a huge sex trafficking network that controlled every stage of the process, from recruiting women for prostitution to marketing and finding clients. As a result, tens of millions of shekels were seized and arrests were made throughout the country. Tel Aviv police call it one of the most important cases in recent years.

The lengthy secret investigation entered the open phase this morning. Employees of the central police department, with the support of MAGAV and YASAM special forces, conducted raids on the houses of suspects in Gushch-Dan and other areas where the criminal network operated. The suspects were detained for questioning, and dozens of vehicles were seized and funds in 18 bank accounts were frozen.

Members of the criminal network performed a variety of functions, ranging from recruiting women, marketing and attracting clients, to collecting and laundering money. It is believed that the organization operated for several years under the leadership of members of the same family. Money from criminal activities was used to purchase expensive cars and real estate, and services were advertised on various websites and leaflets.
