Trump received more than 270 votes in the US elections, AP announced.

It is noted that from the very beginning of the vote count, Trump was always ahead, especially in the decisive “swing” states that determine the election results. Among the first such states to declare victory were North Carolina and Pennsylvania. Thus, he secured a second term almost four years after leaving the White House.

Trump himself had already called himself the “47th President of the United States” the day before at a meeting with his supporters. He stated: “I am now both the 45th and 47th President of the United States.” He also assured that Republicans would retain control of the US House of Representatives and gain a majority in the Senate. Many world leaders have already congratulated Trump on his victory in the presidential election, including the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, French President Emmanuel Macron and others.

The US presidential elections took place on November 5 this year, where the fight was led by Kamala Harris from the Democrats and Donald Trump from the Republicans. Until the very end, the fate of the White House remained unknown, since the chances of Trump and Harris were approximately equal. However, the Republican was able to secure victory in key swing states.

The presidency of the United States is elected through the Electoral College, where it is necessary to obtain at least 270 votes out of a total of 538. American voters also chose a third of the Senate and the new composition of the US House of Representatives. Ukrainians followed the progress of the elections with interest, since their results could affect the course of Russia's war against Ukraine in the future.

Trump argued that under his leadership of the White House, he would quickly end the conflict with Russia. However, he did not present specific plans, raising fears in Kyiv that this could lead to territorial concessions to the Russian Federation.
