An aide to Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, Ali Hassan Khalil, stressed that this step is a serious prerequisite for ending hostilities.

Lebanon submitted a written response to the US ambassador, noting that their comments confirmed compliance with UN Resolution 1701. This document, adopted after the 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah, prohibits Hezbollah from holding weapons in a certain area between the Lebanese-Israeli border and the Litani River.

Khalil added that the outcome of the conflict depends on Israel's willingness to compromise, but in the absence of readiness the situation could become more complicated.

Israel believes the resolution is not being implemented due to the presence of Hezbollah fighters and weapons along the border. At the same time, Lebanon accuses Israel of violating its airspace with military aircraft. White House spokesman Amos Hochstein plans to visit Beirut to continue negotiations.
