The French Foreign Ministry avoids answering the question about Putin's possible arrest after the issuance of a warrant from the International Criminal Court

The French ministry emphasized that everyone who committed crimes must be punished.

According to Reuters, French Foreign Ministry spokesman Christophe Lemoine did not directly answer a question about the possible arrest of Russian dictator Putin due to an International Criminal Court warrant.

Lemoine said France treats the arrest warrants for Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu the same way.

He stressed that all those who committed crimes must be punished in accordance with international law. The Representative noted that the issue of immunity of national leaders from arrest is complex and standards on this issue vary from State to State.

Mr. Lemoine also noted that there is a difference of opinion regarding the immunity of national leaders from arrest, as stated in the statute of the International Criminal Court.
