According to Kovalenko, Syria is becoming an additional argument in relations between Moscow and Turkey. It also provides the country with additional opportunities to cooperate with Iran and the groups it supports, including Hezbollah.

Now the stability of Syria is disrupted. However, Putin, despite the difficult situation of the Assad regime and the Russian army there, can use the situation for separate negotiations with the West and the Arab world,

The head of the Center also notes that Syria is an important base for the Russian fleet. This opens up the country's ability to influence the African coast through the Mediterranean Sea and provides passage for Russian PMCs that are active in Africa through Syria.

Drugs also play a role. Russian intelligence services, according to Kovalenko, receive income from the illegal drug trade, and Syria serves as “Russia’s drug laboratory.”

It is also noted that Russia is sending additional resources specifically to Syria, which is of particular importance.

Let us recall that on November 30, opposition forces in Syria reached the central regions of Aleppo. Government-controlled forces closed the city's airport and blocked all routes into the city.

It should be noted that Russia has promised to provide military equipment to Syria.
