International politics and Middle East expert Ilia Kusa believes that it is too early to make predictions about what awaits Syria in the long term.
After the change of power in the country, Türkiye, Israel and Qatar gained advantages, which supported certain groups in the region.
They can solve their problems in the near future, taking advantage of the absence of central authority. However, Kusa notes that the future of Syria depends on how the new government is formed and what decisions are made. The regime of Bashar al-Assad was overthrown and the Syrian dictator fled the country. Syrian rebels entered the capital Damascus without resistance from the army.
Israel has decided to deploy its forces in a buffer zone on the border with Syria to ensure its security.
