A report from the Israeli Ministry of Health, which will be presented to the UN, reveals the horrors experienced by those freed from captivity in the Gaza Strip. It describes physical, psychological and sexual violence, which requires an immediate response from the global community. The events began on October 7, when Hamas terrorists attacked settlements, killing hundreds of civilians and kidnapping children, women and the elderly.
Captives were subjected to systematic abuse: children reported torture, teenagers were forced into sexual acts, and women were raped. The men were beaten, starved, and denied medical care. Those returning from captivity suffered physical and psychological trauma and needed help.
Health Minister Uriel Bosso called for immediate action by the international community to free those remaining in captivity and bring those responsible to justice. Director General of the Ministry of Health Moshe Bar Siman Tov emphasized the need for the return of all those abducted and the readiness of the Israeli healthcare system to help those released.
