The IDF has completed an operation to destroy the “Officers' Quarter” in the Gaza Strip, used by Hamas for surveillance and shelling. As part of the operation, launchers, tunnels and other terrorist infrastructure located in the area were destroyed. The fighting was carried out by the Kfir brigade with the support of the engineering unit and with the participation of the 162 division.
The Officers' Quarter complex was built in the 1990s for Palestinian Authority officers. The operation was part of a project to create a buffer zone in the Gaza Strip, where thousands of buildings threatening residents of populated areas were destroyed. As part of the operation, more than 7.5 km of tunnels were discovered, the elimination of which requires considerable effort.
Despite the successes, the IDF command notes that the operation in the northern part of the Gaza Strip continues. Hamas no longer functions as a full-fledged military structure, but the fight to completely cleanse the region continues. It is difficult to get out of the conflict, but soldiers continue to fight, maintaining combat effectiveness after losses.
