Cooperation of Moscow with Tehran is a challenge for Jerusalem, who considers Iran as the main threat to his safety.
“Russia is a nuclear power that can convey to Iran nuclear technologies. We will do everything to prevent this “– emphasized the diplomat.
Why didn't Israel join the sanctions against Russia?
Israel did not impose sanctions against Russia, but at the same time ensures that its companies do not violate international sanctions regimes.
“We carefully ensure that no state institution violates the sanctions regime”– said Brodsky.
Israel is in a difficult position. On the one hand, he is an ally of the West, and on the other hand, he has “his own strategic interests” that he is forced to take into account when building relations with Moscow.
Jewish community in Russia – key factor
One of the main arguments in favor of maintaining diplomatic relations with Moscow is the position of the Jewish community in Russia.
“We cannot allow some damage to be caused to this community”– said Brodsky.
After the outbreak of war in Ukraine, the Russian authorities began to put pressure on Jewish organizations, limiting their activities. In particular, the Kremlin tried to close the office of the Jewish agency “Dry”, which is engaged in the repatriation of Jews to Israel.
“Israel, as a state that accepts Jews and takes care of them around the world, must take into account this factor.”– added the diplomat.
Over the past two years, tens of thousands of Jews have left Russia, fearing repression and strengthening of the Kremlin anti -Semitic policy.
Why does Israel supply weapons to Ukraine?
Israel refused to transfer the Iron Dome Air Defense Systems to Ukraine and does not send other weapons to Kyiv.
“We do not provide military support to Ukraine for various reasons, but the main motive is the reluctance to violate contacts with Russia, as this may be a risk for Israel's safety”– explained Brodsky.

Nevertheless, Israel continues to provide humanitarian assistance to Ukraine and interact with the Ukrainian special services.
