Who will be at the parade in China?
The invitation of Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un to the parade on September 3 in Beijing demonstrates China’s commitment to supporting Russia in its aggressive war against Ukraine. This opinion was expressed by analyst Vitaly Portnikov, reporting on the events through 24 Channel.
This time, China has gathered in its capital not just guests, but a real gallery of leaders whose actions sometimes provoke condemnation on the international stage. Along with the President of Russia and the head of North Korea, the visit will be confirmed by the President of Iran and the dictator of Myanmar. There will also be Alexander Lukashenko, who regularly visits China, which is not accidental — this makes Putin’s attempts to unite Belarus with Russia technologically more complex.
Among Western politicians, only one leader will participate in the event — Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, known for his anti-European and anti-Ukrainian statements. His connection with far-right forces in the country has also not gone unnoticed.
In addition, the presence of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić is expected. Despite the fact that his country is not a member of the European Union, Vučić tries to maintain diplomatic ties but persistently avoids imposing sanctions against Russia. This apparently does not prevent him from attending the parade in honor of Xi Jinping.
What message is Xi sending to Trump?
The Chairman of China, apparently, seeks to show US President Donald Trump a completely different view of the world. In this alternative global context, Western sanctions and threats are ignored. It is a world where countries like Russia and Iran can do business without fear of punishment from the West, continuing, for example, oil deals. It is also a world where weapons are actively supplied to countries committing aggression against others.
Two parallel political-economic worlds have become apparent for a long time. Western sanctions do not work properly if the Global South refuses to break cooperation with regimes that violate the international order. Countries under pressure ignore these restrictions.
Iran and North Korea have long been under Western sanctions, yet they develop their weapons production and support Russia. Iran, moreover, is close to creating nuclear weapons despite international pressure from the US and Israel.
Putin, considering examples of such regimes, makes decisions hoping for the possibility of realizing his own interests without consequences from the US and the EU. The main source of funding for acting as an aggressor remains cooperation with China, as well as India. In this context, the Prime Minister of India will soon meet with Xi and Putin, which will be his first meeting with the Chinese leader in quite some time.
However, India alone is not enough here. China’s support is more significant politically than the economic interests that India evokes. It is encapsulated in the Chinese Communist Party’s desire to weaken the West’s positions.
All this underscores China’s readiness to declare its commitment to a strategy of interaction with Russia, which is not eager for peaceful negotiations. The Chinese ambassador to Russia has already announced Putin’s upcoming visit as historic, emphasizing the strategic partnership between Beijing and Moscow.
At the meeting in the Chinese capital, joint initiatives to counter Trump and ways to weaken US influence on the international stage are likely to be discussed.
Interestingly, Trump himself creates conditions that contribute to deepening cooperation between Beijing and Moscow in the minds of leaders of the Global South. Such a policy is carried out under the pretext of the need to separate Moscow from China, even if it requires sacrificing Ukraine’s interests. However, in fact, the separation of these powers is not confirmed, and on the contrary, there is a convergence of dictatorial regimes. The consequence of all this will be a demonstration of unity during the celebration at the beginning of September.
Thus, the results of the White House’s reckless, naive policy and the incompetence of the new administration are presented in the form of citizens’ suffering, endless war, and revenues flowing into Russia’s budget from oil, which both China and India continue to purchase. In this context, dictators are making plans, striving to establish wars and violations of international law as the new norm in our complex 21st century.
