The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on Monday expressed its condolences to the families of the deceased and wished recovery to the injured due to the terrorist attack in Jerusalem.
“Sad news from Jerusalem. A brutal attack on Israeli civilians resulted in the death of six people and injuries to more than twenty others. We express our condolences to the families of the victims and wish a speedy recovery to the injured. Terror is never a solution and cannot be tolerated. In the modern world, there should be no place for such barbarism,” says the statement of the department on social network X.
The investigation into the circumstances of the bloody terrorist attack at the Ramot intersection continues. Six people died in the attack: 79-year-old Rabbi Mordechai Steintzag, yeshiva students Yosef David (43), Yaakov Pinto (25), and Levi-Yitzhak Pash, 60-year-old Sarah Mendelson, and 28-year-old Jerusalem resident Israel Metzner.
More than twenty people were injured, including a pregnant woman in her eighth month. Six of the injured are in serious condition.
The shooters, two Palestinians from the West Bank, opened fire on a bus crowded with people. In return fire, they managed to wound a soldier and one of the armed civilians.
Hamas Reaction
Hamas commented on the incident, calling the attack a “heroic operation.” Despite this, the organization did not claim responsibility for the attack but called on Palestinians in the West Bank to “intensify resistance to the occupiers and their settlers.”
Thus, the events in Jerusalem once again raise the issue of citizen safety and the growing violence in the region, which continues to concern open political and humanitarian debates among the international community.
