On the morning of October 22, 2025, the Russian terrorist army attacked Kharkiv, hitting a private kindergarten. As a result of the shelling, children were injured, as reported by the city’s mayor, Ihor Terekhov, and the head of the Regional Administration, Oleh Synehubov.

Immediately after the strike, a fire broke out at the site, and all the children were evacuated. Emergency services are working to assist the injured. Synehubov confirmed that at least two of the injured are in serious condition. One of them was unconscious and was placed in intensive care.

Updated information on the injured

At 11:31, information was added about two new victims: medics managed to hospitalize a man and a woman, the latter having serious burns.

By 11:40, Terekhov reported that one person had died as a result of the strike, and the number of injured had risen to six.

Reaction of the President of Ukraine

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky expressed condolences to all the victims and their families. He provided data on the number of injured, noting that their medics are providing immediate assistance. All children were evacuated and are in safe shelters.

According to preliminary information, many children are experiencing an acute stress reaction. Zelensky condemned the shelling of the kindergarten, stating:

“There is no and cannot be any justification for a drone strike on a kindergarten. Clearly, Russia is becoming more brazen. These strikes are a slap in the face to everyone who insists on a peaceful resolution. Bandits and terrorists can only be put in their place by force.”
