After a series of scandalous statements against Israel, the Ukrainian government finally submitted an official request regarding the detention of the bulk carrier ‘Panoramitis’ with stolen grain.

This was reported by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sybiha and Prosecutor General Roman Kravchenko on April 29. ‘The Ukrainian side is asking Israeli partners to arrest the vessel and cargo, conduct a search, seize the ship and cargo documentation, take grain samples, and interrogate the crew members,’ the media reports.

Recall that prior to this, Ukrainian representatives, up to President Zelensky, threatened Israel with sanctions if the ship entered the port. But the Israeli Foreign Ministry consistently responded that, aside from angry posts on social media, it still had not received any official documents substantiating Ukraine’s claims.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry handed a note of protest to the Israeli ambassador on April 28, although it only submitted the official request for the detention of the bulk carrier the next day.

The situation around ‘Panoramitis’ continues to escalate, and experts claim that this could negatively affect relations between the two countries. It is important to note that such incidents undermine trust and could lead to further diplomatic complications. In this context, it is worth monitoring the development of events, especially considering that Israel and Ukraine have their interests in the region.
