Soviet-Israeli writer and public figure Eduard Kuznetsov died on the night of December 22 in Jerusalem. His daughter said that her father died calmly and without pain. Kuznetsov was born in 1939 in Moscow. He spent 16 years in Soviet camps for attempting to hijack a plane and flee to Israel.

After an exchange for two Soviet spies, Edward was released from prison and moved to Israel. During his life, he published dozens of stories and three books. Kuznetsov held senior positions in various Israeli publications.

In 2018, he was named Channel 9's Person of the Year for his contributions to Israeli journalism.

At the award ceremony, he spoke mainly about the success of his daughter, who made a film about the “aircraft business” of her father and his friends. The place and date of the funeral will be announced later.
