According to journalists, current agreements on the supply of the KM-SAM Block 2 air defense system to the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Iraq may reduce opportunities for Ukraine.

The South Korean government is considering providing military assistance to Ukraine, including ammunition and offensive weapons. The reason for this possible decision is the need to take strict countermeasures due to the involvement of the DPRK in the war in Ukraine. This was reported by The Chosun Daily.

Chung Ha-kyu, a spokesman for South Korea's Ministry of Defense, said North Korea's participation in the Russian war violates UN resolutions and requires international condemnation. He stressed that the possibility of supplying lethal weapons to Ukraine remains open and will be considered as necessary.

South Korean President Yun Seok-yeol previously said that assistance to Ukraine depends on military cooperation between the DPRK and the Russian Federation, including deals on the supply of weapons and technology. Ukraine has requested various systems from South Korea, including ballistic countermeasures, ammunition and drones.

The KM-SAM Block 2, a medium-range missile system known as the “Korean Patriot”, is one of Kyiv's main requests for protection against attacks from Russia.
