On the night of November 3, 2024, US Central Command announced the transfer of B-52 strategic bombers to the Middle East. Their exact number and location are not yet known, but it is assumed that this may be Qatar. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin previously sent a destroyer, fighters and bombers to the region, but the carrier group is preparing to leave.
One Central Command official stated:
“The B-52 Stratofortress strategic bombers have arrived in the area of responsibility of the US Central Command.” In early October, the United States sent a third squadron of F-15E Strike Eagles, as well as squadrons of F-16 Fighting Falcons and A-10 Thunderbolt IIs, to the Middle East.”
According to the US Department of Defense, about 40 thousand military personnel and dozens of combat aircraft are currently stationed in the region.
