Larry Ellison and Ambitious Projects
At 81, Larry Ellison’s fortune amounts to $393 billion. He owns 40% of Oracle, which recently signed contracts worth $455 billion, including a partnership with OpenAI. Amidst this, Oracle’s shares rose by 40%, marking the largest jump since 1992.
Project Stargate
The ambitious Project Stargate, combining the efforts of OpenAI, Oracle, and SoftBank, involves creating an extensive network of AI data centers, primarily in Texas and other US states. The first phase of the project has already been launched in Abilene, Texas: 843 acres of land have been allocated, and $40 billion has been invested in Nvidia chips. The expected capacity will be up to 1.4 GW, with more than 6,000 employees working on the construction.
As part of the project’s development, a total capacity of 10 GW is planned, which implies investments of $500 billion. These scales are comparable to 2.5 GDPs of Ukraine. In September 2025, five new data centers are announced, which will increase the capacity to 7 GW.
Investments in Oxford Science City
Alongside the development of data centers, Ellison is investing in educational and scientific initiatives. In 2023–2024, he is opening the Ellison Institute of Technology with an area of 300,000 m² costing £1.3 billion, designed by Norman Foster, known for architectural achievements including Apple Park.
New Projects
Ellison acquired a headquarters in London for £162 million and also annually funds 20 full scholarships for Oxford students. Investments are also directed towards vaccine development, climate projects, and artificial intelligence.
As another of his investments, he bought the Eagle and Child pub, where writers Tolkien and C.S. Lewis used to meet. It is now planned to be turned into a center for scientists and startups.
Media Interests and More
Larry Ellison is also actively working in the media sphere. Through his son David, he acquired Paramount and is targeting Warner Bros Discovery, combining HBO Max and Paramount+. His interest in buying TikTok is fueled by support from former US President Donald Trump, who even advised Ellison to acquire this service for $14 billion.
Charitable Activities
Ellison has also allocated significant sums to charity, investing:
- $800 million — in charitable initiatives
- $200 million — in cancer research
- $375 million — in the Tony Blair Foundation
Besides this, he is known for his active lifestyle: he has been married six times and owns a yacht with a basketball court. University research on aging occupies an important place in his activities, as Ellison considers death a “stupid concept.”
Ellison’s Life Philosophy and Views
Larry Ellison openly supports Israel and invests in medicine and research. His life goals include striving to live to 120 years, reflecting his rational approach to life and budget planning.
Ellison does not just aim to become the richest person; his goal is to hold this title for as long as possible. With a clear plan, he repeatedly confirms his status as one of the most influential businessmen of our time.
