Archaeologists have discovered an ancient figurine of an “alien” 7 thousand years old

Archaeologists exploring a prehistoric site in northern Kuwait have discovered a mysterious clay figurine that is 7,000 years old. The find amazed scientists with its resemblance to images of aliens. Live Science reports this. The figurine was found in one of the oldest settlements in the region, dating from 5500 to 4900 BC.

Scientists described the artifact as “a small, finely crafted head with slanted eyes, a flat nose and an elongated skull.” It is the first such find in the region, which arouses the interest of scientists.

“Zapadka was a complete surprise for the whole team,” noted expedition leader Agnieszka Szymczak. Researchers suggest that the figurine may have symbolic and ritual significance for the ancient Ubaid community that inhabited this settlement. The figurine's symbolic meaning is not yet known, although some researchers believe its elongated skull may have been used for ancient “head shaping” practices.

The figurine was made from Mesopotamian clay, as opposed to the “rough red pottery” most common in the Persian Gulf. This indicates that the Ubaids imported their traditional materials into the region. Some researchers suggest that the secret practices, which peaked in the fifth millennium BC, reflected social classes or a person's identity within an ancient civilization.
