The Argentine government has decided to terminate UNIFIL's participation in the UN peacekeeping contingent in Lebanon. The reasons for this decision were not specified by UN officials, as reported by Reuters.
At the moment, there were only three Argentine military personnel in the contingent.
UN observers in southern Lebanon did not prevent Hezbollah terrorists from turning the border zone into their base and building military facilities, violating UN Security Council resolutions. During the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, it was revealed that UN employees received bribes from Hezbollah.
This may have been a reason for the Argentine government to stop participating in UNIFIL activities.
