The press service of the National Insurance Institute published data on the percentage of poor families in various cities of Israel.
Cities with a high proportion of Orthodox and religious populations, such as Jerusalem, Beit Shemesh and Bnei Brak, continue to “lead”. Also, a significant number of poor families live in cities with a diverse population and on the outskirts of the country, such as Lod, Netanya, Ashdod, Beer Sheva, Haifa and others.
These data show inequality in income distribution and that problems of poverty exist not only in large cities, but also in smaller cities and on the outskirts of Israel.
Statistics show that the share of poor families in different cities varies from 38.3% in Jerusalem to 9.4% in Modi'in, which requires further efforts in the social sphere and support for citizens in need.
