Israel's national air carrier El Al has temporarily suspended flights to Russia. Flights between Tel Aviv and Moscow will not be operated over the next week. After a re-assessment of the situation, a decision will be made to resume air traffic between the two countries.
On December 25, a plane crash occurred in Kazakhstan, as a result of which an Azerbaijan Airlines airliner crashed. There were 67 people on board, 38 of whom died. According to various sources, the plane could have collided with a Russian air defense missile in the Grozny area. There is no official confirmation of this information yet.
Media reported that the Azerbaijan Airlines plane was likely shot down by Russian air defense forces. Citizens of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Russia were killed in the crash. Details of the plane crash are still being investigated.
