China has banned the export of semiconductor industry-related goods to the United States. The new measures came after the US government adopted restrictions against Chinese companies, including Naura Technology Group. Materials such as germanium and antimony are used in a variety of industries, including the electronics and semiconductor industries.
The measures introduced require stricter controls on the end use of dual-use goods shipped into the United States. This is the third set of restrictions aimed at China's semiconductor sector in several years. The restrictions include a ban on the supply of advanced memory chips and technologies for their production.
The restrictions also affect more than 20 Chinese semiconductor companies, investment firms and chip equipment makers. Sanctions are being tightened against China's largest chip manufacturer SMIC, and are also being applied to companies associated with Huawei Technologies. The new rule also allows US equipment to be blocked from being exported to China through third countries if it contains US components or technology.
