Clashes with police erupted at a protest in Israel. Protesters in Tel Aviv were demanding a ceasefire and a hostage exchange with Hamas. The clashes resulted in 30 protesters being detained in Tel Aviv and five in Jerusalem. Some protesters threw objects onto the road and lit fires. Police responded with stun grenades and injured several people, including MK Naama Lazimi and her adviser.

Tens of thousands of Israelis took to the streets on September 1 after the discovery of dead hostages in the Gaza Strip. The Histadrut union initiated a major strike and said protests would continue on September 2. Families of the hostages marched in Tel Aviv with coffins to protest the detention of their loved ones.

Police said one officer lost consciousness and was taken to hospital. A 51-year-old protester was seriously injured and also hospitalized after falling 2.5 meters.

In recent days, Israel has launched a counter-terrorism operation in parts of Jenin and Tulkarm to combat Iranian terrorist infrastructure.
