Numerous poisoned wild animals have been found in central Israel, including jackals and hyenas. Police and the Department of Nature and Parks are investigating the case, which began after receiving information from passers-by about the carcasses of jackals on the ground. Inspectors arrived at the scene with dogs to search for bait and animal carcasses.

Every year there are many cases of animal poisoning in Israel, mainly due to the use of illegal pesticides. Poisoned carcasses are a danger to all wild predators and domestic animals, with some species being endangered. According to the Department of Nature and Parks, 95% of poisoning cases occur intentionally.
