Egypt has rejected a US request for help with the swap deal.

The US Secretary of State has proposed that Egypt send its army into Gaza to control security. According to the proposal, Israel will withdraw from the corridor and the Rafah checkpoint. The US will organize a peacekeeping unit that will control Gaza.

Egypt has rejected changes in security in Gaza since last year. Cairo does not recognize border control maps from Israel due to corruption in the government. Egypt has received payments from Hamas for the use of tunnels in the border area.

According to Israeli media, money from Hamas has reached the highest levels of Egyptian power. Israel is proposing new conditions for control in Gaza, but Egypt has not yet agreed to the changes.
