The IDF Spokesperson's Office found documents in the Hamas headquarters at the Shifa Hospital in Gaza, where the Islamist leadership altered the results of polls conducted by the local PSR Institute. The results of the polls concerned the October 7 massacre, attitudes toward the war and Hamas. Hamas corrected the results of the polls to create a false impression of the situation in Gaza.
One of the polls asked respondents to choose who would lead the Strip after the war. The original data showed support for civilian structures, but Hamas reshaped it to look more authoritative. The poll results on the correctness of attacking the kibbutz and the path to achieving “Palestinian goals” were also altered.
The polls were deliberately distorted by Hamas to create the impression of more than real support in Gaza, public sentiment and hostility towards Israel. The documents reveal the manipulation of the polls and the deterioration of public opinion, the desire to strengthen the position of terrorists and dictate in Gaza.
