The Supreme Court in Romania excluded from the list of participants in the presidential elections the pro-Russian far-right politician Diana Soshoaque, who is the leader of the SOS Romania party. Reuters reports this. The country's presidential elections will be held in two stages: November 24 and December 8, with parliamentary elections to be held between them. There are 20 candidates vying for the presidency of Romania, but legal complaints have already been filed against six of them.

Diana Shoshoake went live on Facebook during the decision to remove her from the list of candidates and claimed election fraud. The essence of her statement is that, in her opinion, Americans, Jews and the countries of the European Union agreed before the very start of the elections to falsify the results. She also claims that Romania is a dictatorship and there is a complete lack of democracy.

Although the president in Romania holds largely ceremonial duties, his powers include appointing the prime minister after elections, as well as appointing judges and prosecutors. The President is also responsible for the country's foreign policy, including fulfilling commitments to support Ukraine.

Earlier, Shoshoake accused the European Union of ruining Romania because of the aid provided to Ukraine and called for a stop to arms supplies to Kyiv. In 2023, she opposed the appearance of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in the Romanian parliament, calling him a Nazi. On the day of Zelensky’s planned visit, Shoshoaque appeared in parliament with a map of Greater Romania.
