In the USA, coins with Trump may be issued, but there are certain difficulties

The U.S. Department of the Treasury confirmed the authenticity of the commemorative coin sketches featuring Donald Trump, but the law may cast doubt on its release.

Images of the new coin design with the president’s portrait appeared on American media screens, presented ahead of the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence. CNN published the first sketch of the one-dollar coin. Despite the department’s confirmation of authenticity, there is a possibility that this design violates current legislation.

The obverse of the coin depicts Trump in profile, accompanied by the inscriptions “Liberty,” “In God We Trust,” and the years 1776 and 2026. The reverse captures the moment when the politician raises his fist after an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania. The mentioned image is complemented by the phrase “FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT” and a background of the American flag.

U.S. Treasurer Brandon Beach noted that this is not a rumor, emphasizing:

“These projects with President Trump are indeed real.”

Legal Restrictions

However, there is a problem with compliance with the law. American law prohibits issuing coins with images of living presidents: the portrait can only be applied two years after a person’s death. Additionally, special legislation on the design of commemorative coins does not allow the use of photographs of any people on the reverse.

The White House reported that they do not know if Trump was outraged by this sketch, but they are confident in his positive reaction. The final version of the commemorative coin design has not yet been approved.

Preceding Events

Meanwhile, the president continues his fight for the Nobel Peace Prize. Trump has already received nominations from Pakistan, Cambodia, Israel, and united Republicans. In its statements, the White House emphasizes that it is “long overdue” to recognize his achievements.

Donald Trump himself expressed the opinion that it would be “a huge insult” to the country if he did not become a Nobel Peace Prize laureate for his diplomatic efforts.
