Iran is reviewing its foreign strategy to strengthen ties with European countries. He is ready to cooperate with any Western state, provided that it respects the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic. This was stated by Advisor to the Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and former Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Velayati after Israeli air strikes on military targets in three provinces of the country.
He said: “The Islamic Republic is open to cooperation with any Western state seeking genuine engagement with Iran, as long as it respects our sovereignty and treats us as equals.” Velayati also noted that Iran seeks to create balance in its relations with various regions of the world.
He stressed that Iranian policy remains defensive, but in the event of an act of aggression, Iran will confront it in a way that will make any aggressor regret their actions. Israel, according to Velayati, is a “conflict monger” in the region.
